Phenuxia

Today I have started importing my “DND” setting from WorldAnvil (highly recommend) into Xendaniel. I created this world for the book I’ve always wanted to write since I was a boy, and it takes from the bones of an old campaign some friends and I played during my deployment to Kuwait. Outside of that my fascination with storytelling has only grown rapidly and voraciously over the years, and thus I desired a setting that would be perfect for any story. There is no promise that is what I have accomplished here, but ever since I first started exploring these ideas, I have developed deeply both as a creative and a person.

Anyone who knows me knows the amount of time, effort, and passion I have poured into this project, and how much it has rewarded me. Everyone I know can reference a story I’ve told them that either resonated or just stuck around, and for the most part, no two are the same. I take pride in that. Stories are most powerful when they’re personal. every new aspect of this world, every completed story that comes out of it are both an immense surprise to me, and life changing in real time. The ones that really affect me I try to share, but I’m incredibly shy about showing that vulnerability to others. I’m no saint, but the potential of what I’ve created here is undeniable to me. Hopefully these stories can be vessels of transformation for you, or someone you care about, too.

What is Phenuxia?

A very high fantasy setting inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, One Piece, Greek/Norse/Egyptian/Hindu/etc Mythology, Disney, Studio Ghibli, Alice in Wonderland, The Warcraft universe, The Dark Souls games, Narnia, and Lord of the Rings. My mother used to read fairy tales and all other sorts of stories to my siblings and I in the evenings after school, our treat before bed. With this powerful imagination weaponry, we each became extremely creative, and our play sessions were full of wonder that could only confuse the onlooking adults. It has been a cherished part of my soul ever since. “We don’t stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.”

The fantasy setting takes place mainly on a continent where life for the average person is difficult, living in small burgs vulnerable to the wilds and elements. Monster attacks and supernatural storms are the norm, causing rise to the great, villain and hero alike. Six massive trees, ‘The Kapocaelum’ represent the six major regions of the continent. Each supports its own biome/ecosystem and is maintained by the indigenous species of the area. Conflicts are fought over the resources of these unique trees.

Ranging from the elz’rii and their immortal xeia(deities) to humans and beastkin, this setting includes fantastical races and creatures both familiar and abstract. The deeper you go, the more you’ll find my conceptual fantasy writing, where the beings in the story are powerful symbols of how our complex minds interact with our own reality. That alone is an infinite realm of exploration…
